31 Days to Better Genealogy – Day 11: Use Facebook

Amy Johnson Crow has been sharing on her Generations Cafe Facebook Group a prompt each day for May. They are based off of her book 31 Days to Better Genealogy that you can buy on Amazon (shown below).

Day 11 of 31 Days to Better Genealogy is: Use Facebook. I have used Facebook in many different ways for genealogy:

  • I manage the North Tonawanda Library Genealogy Club’s (NTLGC) page and administrator for the Niagara County Genealogical Society’s (NCGS) page to occasionally share links to videos, sites, etc.
  • I follow many pages and belong to many groups.
  • I use it for networking with other genealogists.
  • I have used Facebook to reach out to cousins.

I mostly use Facebook for genealogy education and to keep informed of the latest news.

Last week, Katherine Willson updated her Genealogy on Facebook List. The list is now 419 pages containing 16,000+ links to genealogy & history Facebook groups and pages! I don’t know how she does it! Here is a link to the list: https://socialmediagenealogy.com/genealogy-on-facebook-list/.
