Week 11 of 52: Luck

For week 11 of 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks the theme was “Luck.” I thought about the different ways that I could do an “Irish” spin on this, but looking through how others posted on this same topic, I saw a few talk about lucky things that happened to them.

That idea spoke to me as I feel extremely lucky that I started my genealogy research at such a young age and that my family is so supportive to share with me any documents, photos, and stories that they think I might enjoy. If I hadn’t started asking questions when I did, certain bonding experiences with my family may have never happened. Genealogy has kept me in touch with branches of the more distant family tree that might have faded away.

Genealogy has also led me to make many new wonderful friends and travel to places that I may have never visited before. I am so lucky to have genealogy in my life.

Here is a “picture” from my genealogy research trip to Salt Lake City in 2018. The Discovery Center part of the Family History Library had a green screen where you could put your face on images that represented your ethnicity. Here is my “Irish” picture!
