31 Days to Better Genealogy – Day 9: Plan to Attend a Genealogy Conference or Seminar

Amy Johnson Crow has been sharing on her Generations Cafe Facebook Group a prompt each day for May. They are based off of her book 31 Days to Better Genealogy that you can buy on Amazon (shown below).

Day 9 of 31 Days to Better Genealogy is: Plan to Attend a Genealogy Conference or Seminar. Amy Johnson Crow didn’t do a video for this day of the 31 Days to Better Genealogy, but she made a post. She said that the book was (obviously) written before Covid-19 however some conferences and seminars had switched to virtual.

The Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP) was one of the opportunities that I had signed up for summer education that switched to virtual. I had originally signed up to take Foundations of German Research with F. Warren Bittner, CG, but that class was post-poned to 2021. So I transferred my registration to Tools and Strategies for Tackling Tough Research Problems with Kimberly Powell.

I also put myself down for the waiting list for Practical Genetic Genealogy with Blaine Bettinger, Ph. D., J.D. and just found out a few days ago that I was excepted into that course, too!

Staying at home this summer should allow me a lot of time to dedicate to educating myself to become a better genealogist!
