Today I had the pleasure of listening to the recorded presentation given by Jill Morelli, CG for the Virtual FGS 2020 Conference titled: Whether the Weather and its Impact on Our Ancestors. Jill is a very good storyteller and the presentation was fascinating to listen to.
I made an assumption as to what I thought the presentation was going to be about in that I thought she was going to simply talk about looking up the weather in the local newspaper, but it was so much more than that. She talked about big weather events of all kinds (snow, wind, flood, etc.) and had examples of how those events changed the course of specific people’s lives and the encouragement of technical advancements to help notify people of storms coming.
As I said, it was fascinating! I hope that I get the chance to listen to it again before the sessions expire in March.
